It is with great sadness that we inform of the passing last 14 November of ADCE ex-president and board member, Othmar “Otti” Severin. A founding member of the ADCE, he is remembered for his wisdom and grand sense of humor. Otti also served as president of ADC Deutschland for 14 years and is credited with adding significant value to the association.
Founding members of the ADCE share some kind words in remembrance of him:Otti - the most contagious smile in the business.
Michael Conrad, honorary Board Member
First time I met Othmar “Otti” Severin was in 1990 at our very first ADC Europe board meeting at the D & AD in London. What pleasant surprise:
I remember a wonderful person, black English humor and smiling French charm - perfect Austrian mixture and I thought - is this man really German?
Yes he was, but he was more, he was a great open hearted European. Working with him was totally efficient - and while we had sometimes fruitless discussions, he always stayed calm, but at the end he had his distinctive smile and came up with a surprising idea that everybody loved to follow - his wise advice and convincing charm was legendary.
When we didn’t know how to survive - what happened frequently in the beginning - Otti called his friends at Mercedes, Stern-Magazin etc. and minutes later we got ads for our annuals to support our idea and we were safe for the time being. ADCE owes him a lot. Otti was not only our president, our mentor, a real integrator, a wonderful person. He was our friend. I miss him.
Johannes Newrkla, ADCE Board Member.
I will miss him.
